Frequently Asked Questions
Do you price match?
We’re competitive, but we don’t play the race-to-the-bottom game. What we focus on is real value — helping you pick the right product, setting it up properly, and being here after the sale.
That said, if you’ve found the exact same model at an advertised price, bring it in — we’ll do our best to match it.
What brands do you carry?
We carry a full lineup of GE Appliances — GE, GE Profile, Café, Monogram, Moffat, and Haier.
On the mattress side, we’ve got Sealy, Kingsdown, and a few others we trust. No fluff — just products we’re comfortable standing behind.
Can I see appliances before I buy?
Absolutely. That’s the whole point of our showroom.
Open the doors, turn the knobs, compare models — it’s a lot easier to make the right call when you can actually see what you’re buying.
Do you offer delivery?
Yes — Portage and surrounding areas. We run scheduled delivery days so things stay efficient and on time.
Do you install appliances?
We install many of the appliances we sell so everything is set up safely and correctly.
Dishwashers and over-the-range microwaves can be a bit more involved and may require additional trades or electrical work — we’ll walk you through that ahead of time.
Will you take away my old appliance?
Yes — in most cases. Just depends on what it is and where it’s coming from. We’ll let you know upfront.
Can you call ahead before delivery?
We don’t automatically call ahead (it slows the whole route down), but if you need one, just ask when booking and we’ll make it happen.
Do you service what you sell?
Yes — and this is where we’re different.
We don’t just sell it and disappear. Our in-house technicians actually service the products we carry.
Do you service appliances you didn’t buy from you?
Sometimes — but our own customers come first. That’s part of the value of buying local.
How far out are you booking for service?
We try to get to you as quickly as possible. Most of the time, we’re about one to two weeks out depending on demand.
What are your service rates?
We charge a diagnostic fee that includes travel within Portage and up to 30 minutes of diagnosis.
After that, it’s straightforward — additional labour and mileage (if you’re outside town).
How long should a fridge last?
Realistically, about 10–15 years. Some last longer, some don’t — usage and maintenance make a big difference.
Why do newer fridges seem to have more issues?
They’re more efficient and packed with features — which also means more parts that can fail.
It’s the trade-off of modern appliances. We help you pick models that make sense, not just look good on paper.
Do I need a special hookup for a new range?
Electric is usually plug-and-play.
Gas needs proper fitting — always done by a qualified technician.
What’s better — top load or front load?
Depends on you.
Top load = simple, durable, easy.
Front load = more efficient, gentler on clothes, but needs a bit more care.
Do you offer a comfort guarantee?
On in-stock mattresses — yes.
Custom or special orders don’t qualify, so we make sure you’re choosing the right one from the start.
How long does a mattress last?
About 7–10 years on average. If you’re waking up sore or not sleeping well, it’s probably time.
Do I need a mattress protector?
Yes — and not just because we say so.
It protects your investment and is required if you ever need to use the manufacturers warranty.
How long will you hold my product?
We’re reasonable — but we don't have a huge warehouse storage facility.
If you need extra time, just talk to us ahead of time.
Are appliances built like they used to be?
No — and that’s across the entire industry.
Today’s focus is efficiency and features, not 25-year lifespans.
Is the cheapest option the best deal?
Almost never.
The right product for your situation will save you money, headaches, and service calls down the road.
Does local service actually matter?
Yes — a lot.
When something goes wrong, having a local team who knows the product (and answers the phone) makes all the difference.
What is the most reliable appliance brand?
There’s no perfect brand.
What matters is choosing the right model for how you actually use it — that’s where we come in.
Is it worth repairing an appliance?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
We’ll give you a straight answer based on age, cost, and what we’re seeing — not just try to sell you something.
How quickly can I get a replacement appliance?
If it’s in stock, usually pretty quick.
If it’s not, it depends on the manufacturer — but we’ll be upfront about timelines.
